Our Dual Pediatric Primary/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner DNP Program is the only dual PNP program in the state preparing pediatric nurse practitioners at the doctoral level.
A hybrid of online and in-person courses, this program prepares nurse practitioners for the challenges of delivering comprehensive care to the pediatric population across various inpatient, outpatient, and specialty practice settings.
I really wanted to further my degree so I can keep helping the pediatric population. I think that we have a really great collaborative program that I saw in my doctoral project, and, just being in pediatric in general, I think the program is really comprehensive.

Role, Qualifications, and Preparation
You must have a minimum of one-year of acute care pediatric experience to apply to this program.
Our program focuses on providing family-centered and culturally respectful care for pediatric patients (birth through young adulthood) with acute, complex, critical, and chronic illness across a variety of care settings.
Acute Care PNPs provide the highest level of evidence-based care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with life-threatening illnesses and organ dysfunction or failure. They typically work in a variety of interprofessional inpatient and outpatient settings, including specialty clinics, urgent care, and emergency departments.
This program prepares you to:
- Provide direct patient care across the entire continuum of health and illness, including acute, complex, and critical conditions.
- Understand the challenges of delivering comprehensive care
- Translate evidence into practice
Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for national board certification.
