RN to BS Clinical Process

All RN to BS students must follow these steps to complete the clinical clearance process. If there is non-compliance to any of these steps noted, the student will be dropped from the course on the last day of add/drop period and will not be able to participate in clinical for that semester.

Step 1

Complete your clinical clearance requirements. All requirements must be completed in order to participate in clinical.

Step 2

Secure a clinical site and preceptor.

When identifying your site and preceptor, there are two documents you need to provide your preceptor and two documents (digital copies) you must obtain from them.

Step 3

Upload and submit the completed appointment application form and your preceptor’s resume or CV, along with the rest of the required information, on the RN to BS clinical placement information form. Your faculty adviser will review the form(s) and approve/deny it.

Step 4

Once a contractual agreement is generated, the Office of Student Services must receive a signed contract in order for you to begin clinical.

Upon receipt and execution of this contractual agreement, you and your faculty advisor will receive an email indicating that you may begin clinical.

Notes

  • After all clinical requirements have been verified and the site has been approved by the Office of Student Services, a contract will be generated and sent to the site for signature.
  • Once the Office of Student Services receives a signed copy of the contract from the clinical site, an email will be sent to you and your faculty advisor indicating the student may begin clinical.
  • If, by the end of add/drop period, your faculty advisor does not receive an email stating you and your site have been cleared, you will be dropped from the course.
  • At the completion of each semester, the Office of Student Services will send a thank you letter to the preceptor of record.

If there is non-compliance to any of these steps noted, the student will be dropped from the course on the last day of add/drop period and will not be able to participate in clinical for that semester.
