Congratulations on your admission to the Rutgers School of Nursing Graduate Programs! Please carefully review the information below and complete the onboarding items before orientation.


Orientation

New Student Orientation is scheduled for Monday, July 22, 2024. Expect to be present at orientation from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Orientation will be virtual via Zoom. A Zoom link will be emailed prior to orientation.

You will be meeting with your Specialty Director (SD) during orientation for program information and course advisement.

Let’s Get Started

Note: some of these steps cannot be completed until you register for classes AFTER orientation

  1. Activate Net ID (included in your admissions deposit confirmation letter) You must activate your NetID before proceeding with many of the other steps on this page.
  2. Upload photo for Rutgers ID. – It is required that all students have an ID card.  
  3. Complete Course Advisement
    Graduate students receive advisement (course, clinical, schedule, academic, career, etc.) from the Program Specialty Director. Students should seek advisement from their advisors prior to registering each semester.If you are unsure who your Specialty Director is, you can access that information on the School of Nursing Directory.

  4. Complete all immunization requirements.
    Log into the Medicat portal at https://patient-rbhs.medicatconnect.com/default.aspx to begin your immunization process.
    Use your Rutgers NETID and password to log in. You will not be able to log in until your Rutgers credentials and email account are activated.

  5. Confirm your attendance for RU Here – the pop-up appears when you log into your “My Rutgers Portal (typically 5 days before classes begin).
  6. Fill out the Health Insurance Waiver – To enroll, please visit www.universityhealthplans.com. If you have any questions, please send an e-mail to insure@rutgers.edu
  7. School Email – Important: sn.rutgers.edu is the official e-mail account for the School of Nursing, not Scarletmail. Please make sure that sn.rutgers.edu is your default email. Go to Manage email addresses. Select your “@sn.rutgers.edu” as the default email. Access your sn.rutgers.edu email at connect.rutgers.edu.

Access campus services

IMPORTANT: The following items are necessary to complete the steps in the next section. If you have trouble accessing or using any of these, please see the Student Computing page.

  1. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – Each student is required to have their own personal computer or functional device.
  2. Parking – For information on-campus parking please view the parking website
    Students cannot complete the parking process/request a permit until they are registered for Fall 2022 classes.

Advisement

Office of Disability Services (ODS)
During this time of remote learning, there are tips available to studentsView ODS Student Tips. Temporary Conditions

Temporary conditions or injuries do not last long (typically 8 weeks or less), are not chronic, and have little or no outstanding or lasting effects. Although temporary conditions generally do not qualify as a disability under federal or state laws, the University does recognize that temporary conditions and injuries can be problematic and may adversely affect a student’s ability to fully participate in class.

Religious Accommodation

Clinical Compliance and Health Services

All students must complete clinical compliance requirements to be eligible to participate in clinical courses. Clinical compliance consists of health & immunization records, flu vaccination, CPR/BLS, current NJ RN license, criminal background check (good for 2 years), student disclosure form and drug screening (if applicable; see individual program requirements). We encourage all students to start the clinical compliance process the semester prior to the clinical semester. Any questions or concerns please contact the Office of Clinical Compliance at clinicalclearance@sn.rutgers.edu.
