Description

This course will provide an educational conference for school nurses to help them to Define Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), describe impact of ACEs on long term health outcomes, identify the biological impact of toxic stress brought on by childhood trauma and plan next-steps to implement trauma-responsive practices in your health office.

Objectives:

  • Define impact of ACEs on long term health outcomes.
  • Evaluate how the biological impact of toxic stress brought on by childhood trauma.
  • Apply motivational interviewing skills through a trauma-informed lens. Observation using a simulated standardized patient mental health scenario with a post simulation self-reflection.
  • Recognize the biological impact of toxic stress brought on by childhood trauma.
  • Explain next-steps to implement trauma-responsive practices in your health office.
