Jeannette Manchester (DNP, MBA, RN), an associate professor at Rutgers School of Nursing, has been named associate dean of the school’s Center for Educational Innovation and Quality (CEIQ). She had been leading the center on an interim basis since 2021 and was appointed to her new post as associate dean after a national search.

At the helm of the CEIQ, Manchester provides leadership for faculty professional development within the School of Nursing, advances the science of teaching and learning to promote educational excellence, collaborates with university partners to further interprofessional education in the health sciences, and oversees a comprehensive continuing education program for nurses and other health care professionals.

She joined the School of Nursing in 2015 as an assistant professor and director of the Center for Professional Development, which now falls under the CEIQ umbrella. In addition to her interim leadership post for the CEIQ, Manchester served from January to September 2023 as interim assistant dean in charge of the school’s clinical learning programs and facilities.

“Dr. Manchester is recognized widely — within our school and beyond — for her leadership, management skills, and the success she’s achieved in developing and presenting top-quality educational programming,” said Linda Flynn (PhD, RN, FAAN) dean and professor. “She is a strong advocate for interprofessional education and is nationally recognized for her scholarship focusing on nursing curriculum development and evaluation, conduct of comprehensive systematic reviews, perioperative nursing education, and curricular partnerships between academic and clinical settings.”

According to Flynn, “Dr. Manchester’s enthusiasm and knowledge have been crucial in conceiving, implementing, and growing many new projects and she has been largely instrumental in securing $2.15 million in external funding. We look forward to her continued success.”

Before joining the School of Nursing, Manchester held positions including director of nursing, patient care services, in the education and professional development division at University Hospital, Newark; manager of professional development at the National League for Nursing, New York City; and nurse educator at Jersey City Medical Center. Her clinical background includes emergency department and critical care transport nursing.

She is a three-time graduate of Rutgers, where she earned her MBA, DNP, and BA in Psychology degrees. She earned her MSN in Nursing Education from Ramapo College and her BSN from Seton Hall University. She is a fellow of the Wharton Nursing Leaders Program and holds Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Rutgers School of Business-Camden.

She received the 2020 Excellence in Teaching Award from the NJ Health Foundation and was a finalist for the 2022 New Jersey State Governor’s Jefferson Award for Public Service.
