Thomas is the Assistant Director for Digital Communication and User Experience at Rutgers School of Nursing’s Dept. of Marketing and Communications.  He started as a web support specialist in 2007.  Thomas has received the Dean’s Staff Excellence Award and the Heart of School of Nursing award.  He has participated in Staff Council, the staff mentorship program, and various other committees throughout the years. 

During his career at Rutgers, he has designed web pages, posters, forms, and brochures to promote the school, attract prospective students, and collect information from visitors

Thomas started designing websites in 1996 and honed his graphic design skills while working at a marketing company as the lead web & graphic designer.

DiStefano holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Oceanography from Rutgers Cook College (class of 1996) and various certificates in web programming languages from Middlesex and Morris county colleges.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains and updates the School of Nursing website
  • Strategize and implement ways to improve the user experience from first impression to lasting impression
  • Uses graphic design to enhance the student/prospective student user experience as they interact with the school of nursing via digital interfaces such as web, signage, email marketing, customer relationship management systems (i.e. Salesforce) as well as physical spaces, including signage and interior design.
  • Maintains email lists, syllabus templates, and web forms. Administer data management information systems as needed to support information processing.
