Joset Brown is an Associate Professor in the Division of Entry to Baccalaureate Nursing at Rutgers School of Nursing. 

Dr. Brown is an experienced nurse and educator specializing in emergency and trauma nursing. With nursing experience spanning 30 years, Dr. Brown is committed to improving patient care delivery at the bedside through education and mentoring. She is enthusiastic about creating student-centered learning environments to meet the needs of a diverse population of learners with varied learning styles and promoting critical thinking and clinical judgment in nursing students. Dr. Brown is skilled in teaching in clinical and academic setting, with proficiency in virtual synchronous and asynchronous course delivery for undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Brown has served as a student and peer mentor, coordinator for an Accelerated BSN program, and chair of the appointment committee. As co-project director, Dr. Brown collaborated with faculty members to secure a $650,000 5-year Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) grant for underrepresented minorities to provide scholarships for nursing students from disadvantaged backgrounds and economically underserved communities to support a diverse nursing workforce. 

Dr. Brown’s research interests include the use of simulation technology to reduce the theory-practice gap and support graduate nurse transitions to practice. Since earning her doctorate, Dr. Brown has maintained a presence both nationally and internationally to disseminate her research through presentations and publications (moved from paragraph below).

She received her Master of Science in Nursing Education and Doctor of Nursing Education in College Teaching and Learning from Walden University. She is a Walden ambassador, a member of the Sigma Honors Society, and served as the president of the Iota Alpha at Large Chapter from 2019-2024.
