Dr. Barbara Niedz is an assistant professor in the Division of Advanced Nursing Practice at Rutgers School of Nursing. She began teaching at the School as a part-time lecturer in 2012, joining full-time in 2019.

She also serves as faculty at Walden University, where she has taught in the MSN program since 2006 and the DNP program since 2011. As Senior Contributing Faculty, she has supported more than 30 students in completing their DNP projects.

With more than 45 years of nursing experience, Dr. Niedz has served in leadership roles in NJ hospitals. She has been active at the state level as a member of the Department of Health Quality Improvement Advisory Committee and as chairperson of the Continuing Education committee in the New Jersey State Nurses’ Association. Dr. Niedz serves as a board member on the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills and is an American Nurses Credentialing Center appraiser for nursing continuing education. She also has an independent consulting business, Quality Outcomes, LLC.

Until December 21, 2015, she was the national vice president for quality operations at Magellan Health, a managed care company offering primarily behavioral health and other specialty services.

Dr. Niedz earned her PhD, master’s, and bachelor’s in nursing degrees at Rutgers University.
