Giving Days 2024: A perfect time to support the future of nursing
March 20, 2024
Rutgers Giving Days 2024, an exciting 48-hour giving campaign, is happening this week on March 20 and 21. During the two-day Giving Day window, Rutgers community members and friends have a two-day window to showcase their philanthropic Rutgers pride in support of causes including academic scholarships and other financial support for Rutgers School of Nursing students.
“Gifts from our alumni, faculty, staff, and friends support the mission of Rutgers in a real and tangible way every day,” says Rutgers University Foundation President Kimberly A. Hopely. “Great things happen when our Rutgers community unites and demonstrates pride in the university and a commitment to something greater than ourselves.”
Giving Days will engage supporters “who share Rutgers core values: access to academic excellence; building community through respect and service; and a commitment to the common good through the excellence of our health systems, scholarly research, and outreach programs,” Hopely said.
During Rutgers Giving Days donors have an opportunity to make a positive impact for generations of Rutgers nursing students.
Donors can designate their gifts to one or more of these Rutgers School of Nursing funds:
- Nurse-Midwifery Scholarship Fund – supports nurses who are pursuing graduate education preparing them to provide advanced practice care that helps overcome health inequities and improve maternal-child health outcomes in New Jersey.
- School of Nursing EOF Fund (Educational Opportunity Fund) – assists EOF scholars with emergency funds to cover meals during winter/spring break, medications, emergency housing, enrichment opportunities, such as Study Abroad programs, NCLEX exam fees, and miscellaneous expenses for internships/externships.
- School of Nursing Academic Excellence Fund – supports initiatives such as fellowships, special events, or student attendance at nursing conferences.
- School of Nursing Scholarship Fund – provides financial support to our students as they promote the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities.
- School of Nursing Student Emergency Fund – created to support students when unforeseen emergencies arise such as critical setbacks in housing, income, health care access, food security, and more.
- Rutgers College of Nursing Class of 1970 Endowed Scholarship – provides tuition support for students who demonstrate a passion for providing high-quality health care to underserved communities and reducing health disparaties.
