Academic Advising

    You will receive an e-mail from your EOF advisor with details on how to confirm your attendance to this session. If you are an EOF student yet have not received information regarding Academic Advising, please e-mail yosayra.solano@rutgers.edu.

All Students

All newly admitted Rutgers School of Nursing students must sign up and participate in the Newark campus SOAR orientations.  Make sure that you are signed up

Fall 2023 orientation dates:

  • June 9th  (all students and EOF)
  • July 13th (additional date for students who are not in the EOF program)

The SOAR program consists of Orientation, Advisement, and Registration for all new incoming students. This year’s SOAR program will be administered online in 2 parts:  

  1. Pre-SOAR Canvas modules (to be completed prior to your SOAR date).  
  2. An on-campus, in person SOAR day which includes orientation workshop sessions as well as Advisement and Registration with your school of enrollment.  

Step 1

Orientation Events: Newark Campus/SOAR Orientation
Students must complete the SOAR Canvas Modules.This session is either June 9th or July 13th (depending on which SOAR date you choose).

  • Starting now – All incoming freshmen must complete the SOAR Canvas Modules prior to orientation
  • Starting now – Schedule your placement exams (New Student Placement Testing | Rutgers SASN) which will allow you to select the SOAR date. June 9th or July 13th – See you on campus!

All Students – Step 2

IMPORTANT: The following items are important to complete prior to the Fall semester. If you have trouble accessing or using any of these, please see the Student Computing page.

  • School Email – Important: sn.rutgers.edu is the official e-mail account for the School of Nursing, not Scarletmail. Please make sure that sn.rutgers.edu is your default email. Go to Manage email addresses. Select your “@sn.rutgers.edu” as the default email. Access your sn.rutgers.edu email at connect.rutgers.edu.

    How to access School of Nursing email
    Go to connect.rutgers.edu
    Enter your School of Nursing Email YourNetID@sn.rutgers.edu
    Enter the password associated with your NetID
    Set the time zone
  • Net ID – Follow steps in Enrollment Pathway, but bring your NetID and password with you to Orientation
  • MyRutgers Student Portal – Students manage their student accounts and access many of the school services through their student portal. We call it “myRutgers,” located at my.rutgers.edu
  • Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – Each student is required to have their own personal computer or mobile device. Bring a wireless device (phone, iPad, laptop, etc.) to make sure you can connect to the Rutgers Systems (don’t forget your charger).
