A respected expert in population health, Dr. Kyeongra Yang has served as an Associate Professor in the Entry to Baccalaureate Nursing Practice Division of the Rutgers School of Nursing since 2017. Dr. Yang teaches Nursing Honors Seminars, Professional Nursing 2, and Population Health Nursing content for undergraduate nursing students. For 12 years before arriving at Rutgers, she had worked at the University of Pittsburgh and Pace University.

Dr. Yang’s research trajectory focuses on improving population health by chronic disease prevention and management. Her research projects include the following areas: prediabetes and diabetes, physical activity, sleep, fall prevention, caregiving at home, and mental health. She has published her research findings in numerous interdisciplinary and nursing peer-reviewed journals. She serves as a peer reviewer for professional journals, conferences, and associations.

Dr. Yang has been active in school-wide and university-wide committees and regional and national professional organizations. Currently, she serves as a board member of the Global Korean Nursing Foundation (GKNF).

Dr. Yang earned her PhD in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin, her Master of Public Health (MPH) from Seoul National University, and her BSN from Jeonbuk National University in South Korea.

Recent Research Activities/Funded Projects

She is a Co-Principal Investigator of the Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP), funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
