Congratulations on your admission to the Rutgers School of Nursing Traditional 4-year Program!

Let’s Get Started

Prior to beginning the Fall 2026 semester, follow the steps below:

  1. Sign up for New Student Orientation (NSO): The School of Nursing New Student Orientation Priority Sessions will be released in April 2026. You must sign up for ONE of those sessions.

    Sign up will be through your My Rutgers Portal. You MUST sign up for one of those specific sessions. If you cannot attend one of those sessions due to significant circumstances you must contact us at firstyear_nb@sn.rutgers.edu.

    Sign-ups open on April 12th

  2. Sign up for New Student Group Advising: new students will meet with their advisors to discuss registration and program expectations. These virtual group sessions will take place starting in June.

  1. Peer Mentor Group Sessions: Each incoming nursing student is provided with a peer group which is led by a Peer Mentor. An upper-level nursing student who can share their experiences at the School of Nursing and Rutgers University. Required virtual meetings with Peer Mentors will take place mid-August. You will meet your Peer Mentor at your selected New Student Orientation Date.

Set up your accounts and email

IMPORTANT: The following items are necessary in order to complete the steps in the next section. If you have trouble accessing or using any of these, please see the Student Computing page.

View the IT Orientation Presentation

  1. Net ID – Follow steps in your MyRutgers Portal 
  2. School Email – Important: sn.rutgers.edu is the official e-mail account
    for the School of Nursing, not Scarletmail. Please make sure that
    sn.rutgers.edu is your default email. Go to Manage email addresses .
    Select your “@sn.rutgers.edu” as the default email. Access your
    sn.rutgers.edu email at connect.rutgers.edu.
    You will not be able to complete this step until after you have registered for classes

    How to access School of Nursing email: Go to connect.rutgers.edu
    Enter your School of Nursing Email YourNetID@sn.rutgers.edu
    Enter the password associated with your NetID
  3. MyRutgers Student Portal – Students manage their student accounts
    and access many of the school services through their student portal.
    We call it “myRutgers”, located at my.rutgers.edu.

Access campus services

  1. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) – Each student is required to have their own personal computer or mobile device. Bring a wireless device (phone, iPad, laptop, etc.) to make sure you can connect to the Rutgers Systems (don’t forget your charger).
  2. Rutgers University ID (if you have not already completed this in your MyRutgers Portal)
    It is required that all students have an ID badge prior to the start of classes.
    ** Please make sure to submit your photo prior to Orientation** 
    Printed ID cards will be provided at orientation.
  3. Academic Support and Tutoring – You will hear from the office of Academic Success at orientation. In the meantime, you can view their website to learn more about the resources available exclusively to RU Nursing students.
  4. Parking – For information on campus parking please view the parking website
    Students cannot complete the parking process/request a permit, until they are registered for fall 2026 classes
  5. Financial Services – learn about financial aid, student accounting and other financial resources. You can find all information on this webpage
