Dr. Suzan Ahmad is a nurse, health informatics expert, and nurse leader for the last 30 years serving as an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. Her international health and nursing informatics experience brings global real-life nursing informatics practices for advanced nursing practice DNP students.  During her informatics career, she managed many successful Electronic Health Records (EHR) implementations around the world in operational and greenfield sites, especially in the Persian Gulf region and USA.

As an advanced practice nurse in informatics, Dr. Ahmad served various international informatics roles in academia, project implementation, and consultation. Dr. Ahmad received several awards such as Excellence Award from Princess Mona of Jordan, Research Award from UAE, and Health Informatics Strategic Plan Recognition from UAE Health Minister.

Research/Scholarly Interests

  • Implementing Clinical Information system parts such as Clinical Decision Support and alerts in electronic health records and subsequent training post implementation.
  • Data harmonization to support Artificial Intelligence technology for various healthcare data.
  • Evaluating hospitals towards magnet accreditation and predicting magnet attributes through machine learning models.
  • Integrate and use of mobile technology to improve diabetic patients’ health outcomes and compliance to medical regimen.
