Pathways is a program track within School of Nursing that enables students to complete requirements to become a nursing student. Students must apply to the Pathways program to become a pre-nursing student within School of Nursing and are guaranteed full admission to the program after successful completion of the curriculum.

Second-Degree Pathways

The Second-Degree Pathways program is an opportunity for students to complete pre-nursing program requirements while earning a bachelor’s from SASN. Students must apply to the Pathways program to become a Second-Degree Pathways student and are guaranteed full admission to the Second-Degree BS in Nursing program after successful completion of the program requirements. 

For students with 60 or more credits, enrolled at Rutgers SAS-Newark.

Second-Degree Pathways students will complete pre-nursing program requirements while earning a Bachelor’s from SASN.

Full admission to program granted after successful completion of the following:

  • Earn a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University – Newark
  • 3.3 GPA or higher
  • CPR certification – Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
  • Anatomy and Physiology I & II w/lab
  • Microbiology w/lab
  • Organic Biochemistry or General Chemistry II
  • Nutrition, Life Span, and Statistics
  • Principles of Psychology II
  • Sociocultural Dimensions of Health
  • Seminar

Must be taken at Rutgers University
Two courses must be taken at Rutgers University
