Gloria Chan

Gloria Chan (MSN ’17), a School of Nursing alumna and certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) appeared on The Dr. Oz Show earlier this year to help present the “Future of Nursing” scholarship award to nursing student, Ebony Brown. Chan earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on anesthesia in 2017 and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice at Rutgers School of Nursing.

Chan, who sits on the board of directors for Sigma, the International Honor Society of Nursing, Foundation for Nursing, was selected to be one of the judges on a panel which awarded Brown with the $10,000 scholarship. Chan presented the award together with Oz and wellness coach and USANA associate Angela Gray. The scholarship was sponsored by USANA Health Sciences, a health and wellness company and sponsor of the Dr. Oz Show.

Chan said that there were many hundreds of submissions to the “Future of Nursing” scholarship and that she enjoyed her part in the selection process. “It was a great experience to get to see what the future of nursing could be,” Chan said. “It was wonderful to have a chance to represent nursing and nursing leadership.”

And what about meeting Dr. Oz? “It was great,” Chan said of meeting the famous doctor and show host. “I enjoyed the fact that he supports nursing and supports the scholarship.”
