Orofacial Manifestations of Systemic Disease & Medical Therapy
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Oral health is an integral component of primary care and the relationship between oral and systemic health is multi-faceted and reciprocal. Oral disease has the potential to negatively impact systemic health and quality of life. Systemic diseases could also manifest in the orofacial region-sometimes prior to their diagnosis. Positioned at the forefront of primary care and equipped with the oral health capacity, nursing professionals are in a unique position to assess and promote oral health, identify oral manifestations of diagnosed or subjectively silent systemic disease and contribute to timely diagnosis and appropriate management.
