Q: What accounts do I have access to?
A: As a student, you have access to four accounts: NetID, Online Learning, Email and My.rutgers.edu

Q: What is a NetID?
A: This is the account you will use to login to the lab computers (SON computer lab and library lab).

Q: What is the portal ?
A: Rutgers RBHS web portal for students, staff and faculty. This is the gateway to access personal information, announcements, University links, registration information etc. can be accessed thru the portal account. This is also the account used to reset you passwords on all University accounts. To access the portal, visit http://my.rutgers.edu .

Q: What is an online course, Ecollege, Canvas, or Blackboard account?
A: This is the account you will use for online course content. Your course may be totally online or a face-to-face course with some online content. This is also used for orientation and compliance courses. To access your online courses, login to onlinelearning.rutgers.edu/current-students

Q: How do I access my courses online?
A: This is the account you will use for online course content. Your course may be totally online or a face-to-face course with some online content. This is also used for orientation and compliance courses.

Q: When does my printing quota get replenished?
A: Your printing quota (papercut) gets reset approximately July 1st each year. (1000 copies or prints) Any leftover prints that are on your account at that time do not rollover.

Q: What is my email account?
A: This is the email account provided to you by the University. This account can be accessed by going to the portal and clicking "Mail". This account is an official means of communication. The University and SON will communicate with you using this account. You are responsible for the information sent to you at this account.

Q: What is my username or NetID?
A: Your username for all University accounts, also known as your NetID. If you do not know your NetID, you can activate it here https://netid.rutgers.edu

Q: What is my password for the portal?
A: When you first get admitted to SON, you should receive an email to your personal email address outlining a procedure to set your initial password for the portal. This activation can only be accessed once. Once your portal account has been activated, make sure you set your secret questions and answers. If you do not receive the activation email, please call the University Help Desk at 732-743-3200 or try going here here https://netid.rutgers.edu if you have never activated your NetID

Q: I forgot my password (for Core, MyRutgers, Ecollege, Blackboard, email)... How can I get it changed?
A: Manage and synchronize your passwords using https://netid.rutgers.edu. Click 'Manage NetID Password'. Then Click 'Forgotten password' and follow the instructions or you can call the Help Desk. The number for the RBHS Help Desk is 732-743-3200 (on campus 3-3200).

Q: What should I be doing when I walk away from a computer in the lab?
A: Make sure you save your work and LOGOFF or SHUTDOWN the computer before walking away from the computer.

Printing in the Computer Lab

Q: Where and how much can I print in the SN computer lab?
A: In the SON computer lab you can print to the printers in the lab or the Student Lounge. As a student you are allowed 1000 free pages of printouts per school year. If you exceed this number you may add funds by clicking 'details' in the green papercut box on any computer lab desktop.

Q: Where else can I print on campus and how much?
A: You can print in the University Computer Lab in the Medical Science Building, Room C632 (MSB-C632). The pages you print here come out of the 1000 pages you are given per school year. You can also print in the Library computer lab. There is a per page cost for printing in the library. Please see the library staff for details

Q: How can I find out how much of my printing privileges I have exhausted or how many pages I have remaining?

A: You can see this in the green box when you log into a campus computer or at any touch panel near the lab printers.

Q: What can I do if supplies are needed in the computer lab (paper, staples etc)?
A: Knock on the door to SSB 645 or ACK 268 or 110PAT 101A and someone will help you.

How do I know which system my course will use?
Look at the Class Schedule Listing. The course management system is listed under the course details.

When can I access my online classes?
On the first day of the semester unless otherwise instructed by your professor.

How long after I register can I access eCollege and Blackboard?
It takes at least 72 hours for your registration to be processed in either system.

How can I begin working on my course early if my shell is not available?
Once your content is prepared you can request a blank course

If my course shell is empty can I copy content from a course I taught in a previous semester to the new shell?
Yes. If you are enrolled in BOTH courses as a Professor you can copy content from one shell to another.

Can I add other faculty members to my course?
No. Faculty members who have NetIDs can be added to courses by the eCollege Help Desk by email at help@ecollege.rutgers.edu. The requests must be made in writing. New faculty members who do not have NetIDs cannot be enrolled until they have one.

Can I add other students to my course?
No. Enrollment is an automated process. In the event that you encounter an issue with your roster that you have confirmed with the Registrar please contact Asante Barr

SofTest FAQs

How will I get my SofTest username and password?
Your username and password will be emailed to you the 2nd week of class.

What do I do if I cannot remember my password?
Open the SofTest application in any computerize classroom in SSB and click the “Forgot my password” link. The password will be emailed to you.
