If I already have an undergraduate degree, should I still apply as an undergraduate applicant?
Yes. You are applying for admission to an undergraduate program, so you must still complete an undergraduate application. College of Nursing admits undergraduate students only once a year for the fall semester so make sure when applying that you complete a fall application. College of Nursing will not appear as a program choice on a spring application.
What are the requirements for admission to the Accelerated Degree Program?
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college of university.
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (Students are selected on a competitive basis therefore the GPA required for an actual offer of admission may be higher depending on the applicant pool)
- Grade of “C” or better in all required prerequisite courses
- Acceptable Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores from applicants whose native language is not English, or who have not completed their high school and college education in the U.S. The minimum required paper based TOEFL score is 600 and the minimum required computer based TOEFL score is 250.
- Completion of required prerequisites.
What are the necessary prerequisite courses?
Prospective students to the accelerated baccalaureate degree program must successfully complete the following courses before the program commences in late May. All prerequisite courses are required to be completed with a grade of “C” or better prior to acceptance and enrollment in the program:
- Introduction to Sociology
- Statistics
- Anatomy & Physiology I & II
- Organic Biochemistry
- Microbiology
- Technology elective (any three credit computer course)
Lower-division nursing courses that may be taken or challenged:
- Life Span: A Holistic Approach (Developmental Psych.)
- Human Interactive Processes
- Cultural Dimensions of Humans and Their Environment
- Nutrition and Health
