The Nurse As A Case Manager - Spring 2010

Case management is one approach to decrease health care costs. It is a system designed to enhance the quality of health care. This course will explore the concept of case management including management theories, how it is implemented in health care settings and the effects on costs and quality of care. The role of the nurse case manager in a variety of settings including community, acute care, ambulatory, rehabilitation and unique healthcare settings will be discussed and examples in each area will be given. The emphasis will be on the application the nurse can make in his/her current practice. Case studies will be utilized as a teaching method. This course will help to prepare you for job opportunities in case management.
