Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse - Fall 2008

This two-day program is designed for nurses who wish to take the ANCC certification examination for the psychiatric and mental health generalist or advanced practice nurse (CNS or NP). Content of this clinical review will include: scope/standards of practice, basic concepts, therapeutic relationship, communication, abuse/violence, models and theories related to individuals/family/group, milieu management, psychiatric evaluation/diagnostic considerations, and psychopharmacology. Test taking considerations are reviewed, and mock questions are provided. Advocacy, multi-disciplinary collaboration, standards of care, and ethical issues are explored.
