Pediatric Nurse - Fall 2008

This two-day review is to prepare nurses to take the Pediatric Nurse certification examination. Content of lectures/discussions encompasses assessment data relevant to health examination, interventions for pathophysiological conditions and devia­tions from growth and development norms. Teaching and counseling theory; strategies for illness prevention and health promotion; coping with stressors; management of crisis; and play therapy are reviewed. Advocacy, multi-discipli­nary collaboration, standards of care, and ethical issues are explored.
