Gerontological Nurse - Fall 2008

This two-day review is for nurses who wish to take the ANCC Gerontological Certification examination or update their knowledge of health care needs of the aged client. Included are the impact of psychosocial factors, commonly held beliefs and attitudes toward aging and the aged which influence nursing and health care. Discussion of the nursing process, nursing policy and practice issues, standards of care and the role of the nurse as a patient advocate in the Gerontological setting will be included, as will be common pathophysiological conditions of the aging client. Sample test questions will be a part of the instruction.
