Congratulations on your admission to the Rutgers School of Nursing Second Degree BS in Nursing Program!  We look forward to meeting you at the mandatory New Student Orientation.

Let’s Get Started.

Once you have been admitted, RSVP for the orientation, review the maps or directions and attend the orientation where you will be prepared to begin your program.

This orientation is mandatory. Sign-in and continental breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m.  The orientation will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. Your orientation will consist of a number of representatives exclusive to your program from various departments throughout Rutgers University.

  3. Complete Clinical Clearance Forms
    Clinical Clearance procedures will be available beginning July 30th. More information will be provided at orientation. As the first step, please complete the background check and drug testing.

  6. Net ID - You will receive a NetID within 5-7 business days after you have paid a tuition deposit.  If you have not received a netid after 7 business days, please contact the Admission’s office: (973) 972-3067. 
  7. School Email - Important: sn.rutgers.edu is the official e-mail account for the School of Nursing, not scarletmail. Please make sure that sn.rutgers.edu is your default email. Go to "Manage email addresses. Select your "@sn.rutgers.edu" as the default email. Access your sn.rutgers.edu email at connect.rutgers.edu
  8. MyRutgers Student Portal - Students manage their student accounts and access many of the school services through their student portal. We call it "myRutgers", located at my.rutgers.edu
  9. Health Insurance - If you have comparable health insurance to the Rutgers sponsored plan, and do not wish to purchase insurance, you must complete a waiver that can be submitted online, or you will be automatically billed for coverage. View more information.

Parking
The Paterson Street building does not have a parking lot.  There is available street parking (metered parking spaces), and several parking garages within close proximity to the building. If you would like to purchase a Rutgers University parking permit, please visit the parking website.  For information regarding the parking garages within the surrounding area of the Paterson Street building see this website. We are unable to recommend parking options.  Please plan ahead prior to attending orientation.

More things to know

Rutgers University ID
It is recommended that all students have an ID badge prior to the start of classes.  Two weeks prior to the start of the classes, student ID badges can be obtained at Records Hall (which has multiple locations across the New Brunswick campuses).  Please visit this website for more information. Any questions should be directed to 848-932-8041.

Course Registration
All incoming nursing students are "block registered" for courses by the Office of Enrollment Services. You will not self-register for courses.

Textbooks
The textbook list will be provided at Orientation.

Health Insurance
If you have comparable health insurance to the Rutgers sponsored plan, and do not wish to purchase insurance, you must complete a waiver that can be submitted online, or you will be automatically billed for coverage. View more information.

When signing up for health insurance, parking etc., it is important to remember that Rutgers School of Nursing is one of the eight schools of the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS). 

Deferral of Admission

For students wishing to defer or not attend the Rutgers School of Nursing:
*If you wish to defer your offer of admission to a future semester please complete the Deferral of Admission Form.
*If you decide to not attend the Rutgers School of Nursing, please notify the Admission’s Office by emailing: snadmissions@sn.rutgers.edu
