Dr. Lucille Eller and Dr. Elise Lev received a $162,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health for their project, “Intervention to Enhance Quality of Life in Men with Prostate Cancer: Development and Testing.” Congratulations.
The College of Nursing Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) nominated Dr. Maureen Esteves for the EOF Champion Award for the 2006-2007 academic year. The award, created by the Commission on Higher Education-EOF Program Board of Directors, is designed to recognize non-EOF administrators or faculty who, over the years, have served as champions for the various campus programs. The Board will recognize all EOF champions at the upcoming New Jersey EOF Professional Association Spring Conference at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel March 18-21.
Dean Felissa Lashley was one of the panelists participating in the taping of two Caucus New Jersey shows on the avian flu. Dean Lashley participated in the “Avian Flu-Myths and Realities” and “Are We Prepared?” programs that were taped in the NJN studios in Newark on Feb. 2.
The Institute for Nursing Newsletter published an article on the New Jersey Network television program, “Remaking American Nursing,” which featured Dean Lashley as one of the panelists and an article on the National Institute of Nursing Research awarding a two-year $154,000 grant to Dr. Charlotte Thomas-Hawkins to test the effects of a 12-week home-based exercise intervention program on older adults with chronic kidney disease in its January 2007 edition. Also, in the same edition, the newsletter published an article on Dean Lashley and Dr. Yvonne Wesley, the GSN ’93 and 2006 Outstanding Alumna award recipient, as keynote speakers at the New Jersey Nursing Convention.
Lori Varga, a freelance reporter, interviewed Dr. Karen D’Alonzo on her study that explores the attitude that Hispanic women in the United States have about exercise that was published in the Rutgers Alumni Monthly ENewsletter January edition.
