Continuing Education Credit
Rutgers College of Nursing Center for Professional Development is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). Staff of the Center verify that the continuing education activities meet criteria as defined by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. One contact hour is fifty minutes of instruction. Contact hour verification can only be awarded at the completion of the program. Participants must remain for the full program in order to receive credit. Contact hour forms/certificates are given to the participant at the end of each program.
As required by the new ANCC criteria, on January 1, 2007, we will begin offering 60-minute contact hours and will no longer provide 50-minute contact-hour credit. According to ANCC, “This change brings greater consistency with the accreditation Process of other disciplines and increases the understanding and intuitiveness of the awarding of contact hours.”
