Japanese Disaster Nursing Program Visits Rutgers

On August 14, the Center for Global Health hosted a delegation of Japanese nursing students from tsunami-affected areas who intend to pursue a career in disaster nursing. They were brought to the United States through a partnership between J&J and Tomodachi, which was an organization founded by the US military in response to the tsunami.

At Rutgers School of Nursing, the students were given presentations about Rutgers University by Dr. Willard and about Dr. Quinn's research on children affected by Hurricane Sandy. They also toured the facility at Paterson, with special emphasis given to the simulation lab. We then facilitated a visit to RWJ with a focus on trauma nursing, which was led by Dr. Helen Miley.
