Pathogens used in bioweapons defense and hurricane Katrina

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, only minor damage was reported to research animals and materials involving pathogens that are considered to be bioweapons for defense. No release of agents occurred. Other research samples including those from the Bogalusa Heart Study were lost because of lack of electricity and flooding, and other laboratory animals died or had to be destroyed.
