Dr. Ward graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 with degrees of Master of Bioethics and PhD in Nursing. She obtained further certification in clinical ethics consultation & health policy from the Center for Practical Bioethics. Dr. Ward had previously obtained other degrees from Penn Nursing (MSN; Health Leadership, 2002 and BSN, 1987). Her areas of research interest include ethics in research and in the clinic, and in family experiences in critical care. Her academic expertise is within the realm of qualitative research and analysis.
Dr. Ward's past areas of research include an NIH funded qualitative investigation of parental perceptions of neonatal research. She is currently the principal investigator on a UMDNJ Foundation (multicenter) grant focusing on perinatal/pediatric ethics, bereavement, and research.
