Thomas P. Distefano
User Interface/User Experience Architect
Thomas joined the School of Nursing in 2007 as a Web Support Specialist and worked to enhance branding consistency and promote the rapidly growing school.
He graduated from Rutgers University, Cook College, in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in Physical Oceanography and has strong interests in science and technology as well as art. Shortly after graduating, he made his first website (about action figures), and decided that the combination of art and technology required to produce websites was where he wanted to focus his skills. He started freelance web design work, and eventually found himself working full time as a web and graphic designer for a marketing firm.
He has earned several certificates in web programming and picked up a diverse collection of hands-on skills along the way, including sign making and print production.
Thomas enjoys finding creative solutions to business functions and enjoys working for Rutgers as it provides a diverse group of people to design for. Thomas works to organize, collect, and present information on the web and in print to hundreds of thousands of site visitors in a clear and consistent manner. He also helps internal business units with improving workflows and data collection to improve the overall user experience of every person that attends, works for, or is interested in Rutgers School of Nursing.
