Biosketch

Dr. Ying-Yu Chao, a clinical assistant professor, joined the Rutgers, School of Nursing faculty in September, 2014.  Dr. Chao received her PhD in Nursing in 2014 and MS in Geriatric Nurse Practitioner Program in 2008 from University at Buffalo, the State University of New York. 

Dr. Chao's research interests are in the areas of rehabilitation nursing, gerontological nursing, health promotion, physical and psychosocial effects of exergames use, social support, immigrant health, and RN workforce issues. Over the past few years, Dr. Chao has been actively involved in local, state, and national research projects. For her doctoral dissertation study, she designed and tested a self-efficacy theoretically based intervention by using virtual reality gaming technology to promote older adults to engage in exercise. Currently, she focuses on disseminating an exergame-based program to improve health and well-being in older adults. Dr. Chao also serves as manuscript reviewer at Rehabilitation Nursing, Geriatric Nursing, Clinical Nursing Research...etc.
