Dr. Elizabeth Sloan-Power is an Assistant Professor at Rutgers Department of Social Work, Newark, NJ. Dr. Sloan-Power is an expert in qualitative research methodology. Her research interests empowerment based theories; coping skills of children in urban environments when exposed to violence, PTSD and other chronic health. Through her work she has developed the ESP Overall Coping Zone Score (OCZS). Presently she is co-PI for a study titled “Zone to Zone: Asthma Severity and Children’s Contextual Coping.” This study examines how urban children living with asthma cope with their symptom severity and violence exposure across contexts.
