Post-Masters Certificate Students

Program Completion

Post-Master's Certificate students complete the certificate requirements in 24 months and on a part-time basis (2-3 courses per semester).

Curriculum

The Primary Care and Pediatrics Post-Master's certificates consist of 8 courses (18 credits of theory & practicum and 4 credits of psycho-social foundations). The Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master's certificate option consists of 10 courses (24 credits of theory & practicum and 4 credits of psycho-social foundations). The Psychiatric Mental Health Post-Masters Certificate consists of 8 courses (20 credits of theory & practicum and 3 credits of psycho-therapy).

Before beginning theory and clinical coursework students must have taken the following courses during their master's degree:

  • Advanced Pathophysiology
  • Pharmacodynamics
  • Advanced Health Assessment

Course Registration

Post-Masters Certificate students will need a special permission number in order to register!

Rutgers University considers Post-Masters Certificate students as non-degree because they are not pursuing a "degree" but are enrolled in a certificate program. As a result, each semester, you will be required to contact the graduate program coordinator in the Office of Student Services to obtain special permission numbers for registration. Requests for special permission numbers must include student name, RUID, and all course information including index and section numbers.

Clinical Requirements

The Specialty Director for each specialization will arrange clinical placements prior to the beginning of each semester.

Students must comply with all graduate clinical requirements prior to beginning clinical assignments.
