Civic Engagement

Civic engagement is central to The Rutgers College of Nursing's mission to provide service responsive to the health care needs of multicultural populations; and demonstrate Local, National, and International leadership in informing health care outcome.

The College of Nursing is committed to its responsibility in establishing and maintaining a health partnership with the community. Special programs and initiatives focus on areas that address the health needs of the citizens of New Jersey. Service Learning is a vehicle for engaging students and faculty at the College of Nursing in civic participation, whether it research-based to identify problems and solutions in the community or outreach-based implementing strategies. Integral to the nursing curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels, service learning improves communities, instills a sense of civic as well as social duty and contributes to personal along with educational growth.
