Description

This workshop focuses on faculty development in the areas of test construction and test item development. The guiding framework is the use of Bloom’s taxonomy of cognitive levels as applicable to the creation of test items. Basic guidelines are presented in the didactic portion of the program. Small group work is assigned using an examination provided with sample test items. Small groups then share with the large group the findings. Discussion follows of the use of the guidelines to revise or recreate the test items related to higher cognitive levels of the taxonomy. The second part of the workshop is devoted to work on the participants’ own exams and test items, which the participants should bring to the workshop.
