This activity will address strategies for clinicians and social service providers to be able to more effectively incorporate the new Perinatal Guidelines in treatment, interpret the results of the stigma study, and discuss specific clinical and sexual issues in aging women living with HIV.       

At the end of the conference, participants should be better able to:

  1. Incorporate the recommendations from the current HIV Perinatal Treatment Guidelines into patient care.
  2. Summarize the results of the Rutgers Stigma Index Study and discuss strategies to combat stigma in HIV treatment.    
  3. Describe clinical conditions, screening and treatment for aging women living with HIV.  
  4. Discuss senior sexual health and the impact on women living with HIV.

Target audience:
Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs), RNs, LPNs, and Social Workers. This information might also be beneficial to physicians who specialize in Infectious Diseases, Pediatrics, Family Practice, and Obstetrics, as well as Community Health Workers, Health Educators and Medical Case Managers.
