Objectives


  • Development of a strategic plan to assure the availability of a well-prepared nursing workforce in the event of a bioterrorism attack, emergence of an infectious disease outbreak, or other emergency situation.

  • Provide information, consultation and technical assistance to nurses and allied nursing personnel throughout New Jersey in all areas of practice on all relevant areas relating to bioterrorism and emerging infectious diseases.

  • Develop continuing education programs and professional development at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels for practicing nurses in the event of an untoward event, and assure that these programs are available to nurses in various formats, such as workshops, classes Web-based distance learning and hands-on experience.

  • Collaborate with other disciplines and entities such as the Public Health Research Institute and the Rutgers Center for the Study of Bioterrorism.

  • Creation and clearinghouse for nursing related materials and events including the development and provision of medical assistance.

  • Consult on educational materials developed by various nursing groups.
