At Rutgers School of Nursing, we prepare family nurse practitioners to promote, maintain, and restore the health of individuals and families across the continuum — in pediatrics, women’s health, and adult and geriatric health. Students are equipped to practice in a primary care/community-based setting.

Upon graduation, students are eligible to sit for national board certification.

Meet the Specialty Director

Dr. Persephone Vargas is an Associate Professor and the Specialty Director of the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. She is an experienced and dynamic educator and clinician who is a passionate advocate of elevating the nursing profession through leadership in nursing education, patient care and research.
